On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Make It Worthy had the deeply moving honor of welcoming David Lee, the passionate Marketing and Digital Communications Manager of Verdant Health Commission, for an unforgettable and inspiring visit with our students and staff.

David began his heartfelt speech with a message that resonated deep within us all. The profound importance of connection. Looking directly into the eyes of our students, he passionately proclaimed that even when we don't realize it, we are all intertwined in powerful, meaningful ways. He reminded us that relationships, shared dreams, and community partnerships often ignite from just a single conversation, a spark that can set a transformative chain reaction in motion.
To bring this truth to life, David shared the story of how he first connected with Make It Worthy. While seeking a nonprofit partner through the Verdant Health Commission, he reached out to an old colleague, and that one simple introduction changed everything. She introduced him to our founder and Executive Director, Abdoulie Jarju, and from that moment, a partnership was born, one that continues to grow stronger with each passing day. Together, we've collaborated on countless projects, including ongoing initiatives with the Edmonds School District, all driven by a shared unwavering commitment to uplift students and families in Snohomish County.
David’s story of connection didn’t stop there. He took us on a personal journey back to his graduation from the University of Chicago, where he had the rare privilege of meeting Bill Clinton. Through this meeting, he highlighted the interconnectedness of leaders, how Presidents and organizations, from Clinton to Barack Obama are linked by a common desire to serve and improve their communities. These stories powerfully illustrated the truth that no one acts alone; we are all part of a greater tapestry woven together by shared values and a deep drive to make a difference.
Beyond inspiration, David also shared valuable information about the programs and services offered by Verdant Health Commission that support low-income households, including access to essential dental services. He clarified that the free community volleyball games held on Tuesdays are organized by a separate nonprofit organization; however, he is able to connect students and families to that program and other beneficial community resources.
In addition, David personally brought toys and gifts for the students, a generous gesture that was not part of Verdant’s programming. Our students were genuinely excited and deeply appreciative of the gifts, and their enthusiasm filled the room with joy.
He also provided a variety of plant seeds for students and families interested in gardening and growing their own vegetables. The seeds included carrots, cilantro, Siberian kale, giant chard, lettuce, beets, and Pinky Beauty radish encouraging healthy living, sustainability, and self-sufficiency within our community.
Our founder, Abdoulie Jarju, expressed heartfelt gratitude for David’s unwavering leadership and support. “I am incredibly grateful for David Lee and the partnership he’s built with Make It Worthy,” he said. “David embodies the compassionate leadership our community needs, someone who cares deeply about those who need it most. His dedication to social equity and service inspires us all. We need more leaders like David Lee, leaders who lift others up and believe in the transformative power of connection.”
Joelta Seneh, our Co-Founder and Development Director, echoed this sentiment, praising David’s steadfast commitment: “He’s a man of his word focused on making real, lasting improvements in the lives of students and families. Working with him is an honor, and we are eager to continue this powerful partnership.”
David Lee’s visit was far more than just a speech, it was a passionate rallying cry that true change begins with connection. Through sincere partnership, unwavering service, and a shared pursuit of equity, Verdant Health Commission and Make It Worthy demonstrate every day how communities united by purpose can ignite hope, spark transformation, and create lasting impact.
