Everett, WA, On August 6th, 2025, Make It Worthy had the honor of welcoming Senior Fire Inspector Aaron Parker from the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office for an unforgettable visit that left a lasting impact on our students and staff alike.

With warmth, humility, and a deep commitment to community education, Aaron took time out of his busy schedule to teach our students one of life’s most important lessons: how to stay safe in the event of a fire. He began by breaking down the basics of fire drills and home safety, equipping students with knowledge they can use to protect themselves and their families.
But he didn’t stop there.

Aaron challenged our students with a powerful and practical assignment to go home and create a fire safety plan with their families. This hands-on task encouraged them to take what they learned and apply it immediately, turning classroom knowledge into real-life preparedness.
What truly made the day unforgettable, though, was the experience Aaron gave our students an opportunity that few children get. He allowed them to try on his actual firefighting gear, including his vest, helmet, boots, and other essentials. For many of our students, this was a once-in-a-lifetime moment, putting them in the shoes of a real-life hero. The room was filled with excitement, wonder, and pride as students explored what it feels like to be a firefighter.
Then came a moment that left the entire room in awe: Aaron demonstrated how quickly a firefighter must suit up when responding to a call. He completed the full gear-up process in just 29 seconds, including his face mask. It was an incredible display of skill, speed, and readiness, and it gave students a real glimpse into the discipline and urgency that defines the profession.
Aaron also opened up about the realities of being a firefighter, sharing the day-to-day responsibilities, the challenges, and the deep sense of purpose the job brings. Several students were inspired by his story and began asking questions about how to join a fire academy in the future. For some, this visit may have planted the seed of a career path they hadn’t previously considered.

Beyond firefighting, Aaron left our students with life advice they’ll carry with them forever. He stressed the importance of staying in school, staying focused, and surrounding themselves with positive influences, friends, and mentors who can help guide them toward success. His message was clear: with the right support and determination, they can achieve anything.
